So degradation, is the transformation of polymers, through biological and/ or chemical reactions (bacterial decomposition, oxidation, light, etc.), into small molecules such as water, carbon dioxide, and methane.

PLA - polylactic acid - is made from starch derived from renewable plant sources (e.g. maize, cassava, etc.). Glucose is obtained by saccharification of the starch raw material, which is then fermented with certain strains of bacteria to produce high purity lactic acid, which is then synthesized by chemical synthesis to produce PLA of a certain molecular weight. It has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, eventually producing carbon dioxide and water.
